Understanding the service
When to consider circuit breaker repair & replacement
A circuit breaker is a protective device. If it trips repeatedly, feels unusually hot, smells burnt, or will not remain on, avoid repeated resets and have the underlying cause evaluated. Replacing a breaker without understanding the fault may leave a dangerous condition unresolved.
Common reasons customers request help
- A breaker that trips again after being reset
- A breaker that will not stay on
- Power loss affecting one circuit
- Unusual odor, noise, or heat near the panel
What to share when you call
Explain the symptom or project, when it began, what equipment or area is affected, and any recent changes. Do not attempt repairs to energized equipment or handle exposed conductors. If there is immediate danger, move to safety first.
What an assessment may cover
The provider should clarify the issue, examine relevant conditions safely, explain the proposed work, and identify any additional repairs or approvals that may be needed. Ask who will perform the work, which credentials apply, and whether permits or inspections are part of the plan.
Factors that can affect the estimate
The estimate depends on diagnosis, breaker and panel type, the underlying fault, access, and whether wiring or panel work is required.
